Juanita Fern Zippe

Funeral Services for Juanita F. Zippe, 87 of Aledo, are Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Preemption United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Preemption United Methodist Church or the Alzheimers Association. Juanita died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Juanita was born on June 13, 1923 in rural New Windsor, Illinois to Everett Dillon & Gertrude May (Luxmore) Glidden. She married Harley “Dick” Zippe on April 14, 1942. He preceded her in death. Juanita enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, knitting, yodeling, reading and researching geneology. Those left to cherish Juanita’s memory include her children and their spouses: Larry& Cindy Zippe of Genoa, IL; Linda & Kent Lasik of Prairie View, IL and daughter-in-law: Linda Zippe of Aledo; sisters: Bonnie Meredith of Oxford, IN and Gloria & Harold McNeil of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren and spouses: Trina Zippe-Post, Brent & Kim Zippe, Lucas & Christina Zippe, Janda & Jeremy Brockhouse, Shanté & Ross King, Matthew Zippe, Katie Elliott, Beth & Tim Hartmann, Joe & Amber Elliott, Amber & Tom Rychlik, Nick Lasik and Brett Lasik and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, David in 2006 and Rockie Joe in infancy; twin sisters, Violet and Vallie in infancy; sister, Marda Koresko and brothers, Melvin and Duane Glidden.
