Funeral Services for Pauline Chard Brock, 94 of Aledo, formerly of Matherville and Silvis, will be Friday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, Seaton, Illinois. Visitation is Thursday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home, Activity Department. Pauline died on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Mercer County Nursing Home, with her family at her side. Kathryn Pauline was born on November 1, 1917 in Seaton, Illinois to Emmet & Grace (Dalrymple) Johnson. She married Carl Chard on March 20, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1976. Pauline married Clifford Brock on December 10, 1977. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2002. Pauline retired from Royal Neighbors of America Auditing Department in 1971. She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge, joining the Matherville Lodge in 1941, where she served as Noble Grand and District President. She was currently a member of the Kewanee Rebekah Lodge. Pauline was a member of the Matherville Community Church and a Past President of the Matherville Senior Citizens Club and Past Member of the Matherville Eagle Auxilliary, #2019. Pauline enjoyed an active life of crocheting, sewing, reading, playing cards, dancing, camping, traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the activity room at the Mercer County Nursing Home in recent years. Pauline was a Die Hard Chicago Cubs Fan! Those left to cherish Pauline’s memory include her children and their spouses: Gary & Rhonda Chard of Illinois City; Cheryl & Wayne Coyne of Milan; Daryl & Joyce Chard of Sherrard; Lynn McMeekan of Viola and Leonard & Jean Chard of Monmouth; a sister: Donna Colton of Mount Pleasant, IA; 12 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son-in-law, Clifford McMeekan; a brother, George Johnson and a sister, Irene Bradford.
