Bev died on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Mercer County Hospital. Bev was born on April 12, 1931 in Rock Island to Joseph & Lucille (Bishop) Welch. She was a 1948 graduate of Rock Island High School. While in High School she worked for Illinois Oil Products. From 1948 to 1956 she was employed with Farmall. She then married Bob Hunter and moved to Seaton, IL, where she was employed by Unit 201 School District as Secretary until 1961, when she returned to Rock Island. For 33 years Bev was employed with International Harvester, retiring as principle accounts payable and receivable supervisor. Bev married Laverne Parkinson and moved to Aledo in 1998. She was very active in Farmall girls club, horseback riding, boating, bingo, bridge, crosswords and was a nervous small plane passenger, but loved flying in the big planes. Bev loved to cruise and see the world, especially Hawaii. She would say, ”The best part of traveling is meeting new friends, we correspond with them and they come to see us and we visit them.” Bev is survived by her husband, Laverne; step-son, Jeff Parkinson; step-daughter, Cindy (Roger) Hutchins all of Aledo; a step-daughter, Lisa Parkinson of Jackson, FL; and three step-grandsons, Adam (Tonya) Hutchins, Alex Hutchins and Andy Hutchins and several brothers and sisters-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Bob Hunter and two sisters, Nancy Welch and Cheral Carlson. Word and thought cannot express the joy and happiness Bev found in her life time of very close friends.
