Hazel B. Anderson

Hazel B. Anderson, 94 of Viola, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Mercer County Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Viola United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Hazel Anderson Memorial Fund. Hazel was born on September 22, 1917 in Mercer County, Illinois to Seyler & Florence Kasenberg Robinson. She married Carl Anderson on September 29, 1940 in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2000. Hazel was a dedicated member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church and the Viola American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, puzzles, crosswords and watching her soap operas. She cherished the time spent with her family. Hazel is survived by her son, Gene Anderson of Viola; 11 grandchildren and spouses: Amos Anderson; Travis & Shawndee Anderson; Darrin Anderson; Teri Anderson; Julie & Dennis Olson; Jim & Kim Winkler; Jane & Jack Johnson; Judi & Bob Clevenger; Jackie & Wayne Bruns; Jill & Eddie Perry and Karla & Bill Hager; 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons, Dale and Harold “Andy” Anderson; a great-grandson, Jared Kole Anderson;a great-granddaughter, Jamie Anderson; 5 brothers, Vernon, Merle, Darrell “Red”, Robert and Marion and a sister, Ethel.
