Dorothy L. Seiver

Memorial Services for Dorothy L. Seiver, 85 of Aledo, are Monday at 2:30 PM at the Aledo United Methodist Church where she was a member. Visitation and fellowship will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family. Dorothy died on Thursday, November 22, 2007at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Dorothy was born in rural Aledo on February 23rd, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Waters) Butcher. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1939, and married Robert Seiver on October 19th, 1941. She accompanied Bob during his pilot's training in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Dorothy loved boating, camping, square dancing and following Aledo Green Dragons football. She was a two-time president of the Aledo Chapter H of P.E.O. International. Dorothy had worked for the Mercer Carnegie Public Library District, as well as the law offices of Gene McWhorter in Aledo. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church, and, in retirement, volunteered in the Harlingen, Texas grade school HOSTS tutoring program. Dorothy is survived by her husband Bob, Aledo; two sons Bob (Barbara-Kay) Seiver of Zachary, LA and Steve (Kathee) of Rock Island, IL; three brothers Lee Ward (Barb) Butcher of Alexis, IL, Don (Joyce) Butcher of Aledo, and Kenny (Shirley) Butcher of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren Alex Seiver, Jacquelin Davis, Laura Gallagher, and Robyn Guillory; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and was preceeded in death by her parents.
