Funeral services for Judy Hunt, 68 of Joy, will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Joy, with Pastor Seth Bowker, officiating. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Judy Hunt Memorial Fund. In honor of Judy’s life, an additional celebration will be held on Sunday at 10:00 AM during regular services at First Baptist Church of Joy with Pastor John Mattingly as co-celebrant. Judy died on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her home with her family at her side. Judy was born on January 3, 1944 in Hastings, Nebraska to Joseph & Thelma (Wickey) Munson, Sr. She married Larry Joseph Hunt on October 13, 1963. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1991. Judy loved and devoted her time to her family and her kids on the school bus. She drove school bus for both the Westmer and Mercer County School Districts. She enjoyed caring for her 5 pet birds and especially sitting down to meals with family and friends. Those left to cherish Judy’s memory include her children and their spouses: Josie & Buck Monson, Jolene & Paul Hampton and Joe & Diana Hunt all of Joy; 6 grandchildren: Chris Monson & Lindsey Percy; Sara Monson & Jon Barnhouse; Shannon and Nikole Lenz; Sierra and Cristiana Hunt; 3 great-grandchildren: Daisy Barnhouse, Kegin Monson and Bree Johnson; Brothers & Sisters-in-law: Joe & Norma Munson, Jr. of Coyne Center; Bud & Sandra Munson and Evelyn Munson all of Keithsburg; Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Zona Davison of Marion, Iowa; Pat & Lonnie Peterson of Joy; Dorothy Dixon of Aledo and Cookie & Jerry Olson of Joy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charles “Chub” Munson; sister and her husband, Thelma & Sylvester Burton; Brother-in-law, George Davison and a nephew and godson, Jerry Olson, Jr.
