Cecil Lee Greenwood

Cecil Greenwood, 102 of Aledo, formerly of Alexis, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Graveside services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the Alexis Cemetery, with the Rev. John Crede officiating. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Cecil was born on March 28, 1905 in Suez Township, Mercer County, Illinois to Frank and Stella (Williams) Greenwood. He was a graduate of Alexis High School. Cecil married the former Dora Wixon on September 7, 1926 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2002. Cecil and Dora farmed in Suez Township until their retirement, when they moved to Aledo. Cecil was an avid hunter and fisherman in earlier years. He truly enjoyed each and every sport, and liked watching them. Cecil is survived by a sister, Frances Hebbeln of Monmouth; nephews, John Wixon of Cissna Park, IL and Vincent Hebbeln of Monmouth and many friends.
