Funeral services for Mae Robbins, 79 of Viola, will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM and Thursday from 9 to 10 AM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Viola United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Viola Fire Department. Mae left this world to be with her Lord on December 22, 2012 at the Mercer County Hospital with her family at her side. Mae was born on September 24, 1933 in Alexis, Illinois to Ray & Stella (Hildredth) Richardson. She married Harold “Jess” Robbins on May 15, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2004. Mae and Jess owned and operated Robbins Excavating in Viola for over 25 years. They both enjoyed driving semi before retirement. Mae was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many cherished friends and family. Those left to cherish Mae’s memory include her grandchildren: Bonnie Melleny and companion, Walter Miller of Viola; Steven & Kristie Melleny of Little York; great-grandchildren: Watson & Walt Miller and Alexander & Alexia Melleny; a special niece and her family: Sandy Daves and her children: Maisie, Eric & Malcolm of New Windsor; an Uncle, Dan Hildredth of Elma, WA; Nephews: Steve Robbins, Tom Richardson, Gene Daves, Vern Daves and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is a special friend, Rodney Thirtyacre of Viola. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Connie Melleny; son, Kenny Robbins; brothers, Bob & Kenny Richardson; a sister, Jean Robbins and a great-grandson, Jessie Miller.
