Herbert Bethurem

Herbert Bethurem, 95 of Aledo, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his home. Per his wishes there will be no services. Private burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Herb was born on October 25, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Emma Jean Allison in 1940. She preceded him in death in 1996. Herb married Linda M. (Franck) Bieri on January 1, 2000 in Aledo. Herb was a 1936 graduate of Rock Island High School. He served in the United States Army in World War II as a combat engineer. He retired in 1971 from the Rock Island Arsenal. Herb was a member of the AF & AM Lodge 57, Moline Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, Oak View Country Club and the Black Hawk Shrine Club. Herb is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Patricia Lehner, Bettendorf; Son, William (Margo) Bethurem of Forest, VA; Sister, Nancy Jostand of Davenport; 2 grandsons; 3 granddaughters and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 step-sons and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion; Brothers, Van and Jack; grand-daughter, Leslie and his first wife, Emma.
