Merion J. Hofmann

Merion J. Hofmann, 61 of Aledo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, with her family at her side. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Merion Hofmann Memorial Fund. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is in charge of arrangements. Merion was born on April 19, 1952 to Hugh R. & Joan (McMullen) Nesbitt. She married William Hofmann on March 20, 1971 at the Hamlet Presbyterian Church. Merion was able to manage a career while at the same time running a large family farm alongside her husband Bill. She was a devoted wife whose greatest joy was their children and grandchildren. Merion cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Just hearing their voices brought her great joy. She especially enjoyed her time spent outdoors. Merion’s memory will be cherished by her husband Bill; Children and spouses: Eric & Cathie Hofmann of Aledo; John & Mary Pat Hofmann of Hawthorn Woods, IL and Lisa & Shay Litwiler of Aledo; Grandchildren: David, Catelyn & Nate Hofmann; Maddison & Ben Hofmann and Tyce & Grace Litwiler; Sisters and their spouses: Barbara Nesbitt of Aledo; Pamela & Terry Johnson of Galesburg; Sheila & Allan Sedam of Aledo; Sylvia Ray Nesbitt of Las Cruces, NM and Mary Lee & Randy Finch of Aledo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
