Burris H. Ruggles

Burris H. Ruggles, 75 of Aledo, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Funeral Services will be Sunday at 4:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation prior to services from 2 to 4 PM. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mercer County Relay For Life, National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Burris was born on May 17, 1940 in Stronghurst, Illinois to Harold Burris & Opal Genevieve (Neal) Ruggles. He married Gloria Jean Litwiler on May 7, 1962 in Kewanee, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1999. Burris retired from John Deere Plow & Planter Works. He was a past member of the Illinois City Coon Hunters Association and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Burris is survived by his children and spouses: Jamie Ruggles of Aledo; Brad & Kris Ruggles of Rock Island and Sam & Carrie Hillman of Taylor Ridge; 5 grandchildren: Alex, Jordan, Peter & Sydney Ruggles and Magge Hillman; 1 great-granddaughter, Eisley Ruggles; 10 siblings and spouses: Barbra & Allan Kraklow of Toulon; Carroll Powell of Bettendorf; Bonnie Doss of Illinois City, Wanda White & Pat Hynes of Milan; Martha & Dennis Bedford, Betty & David Criswell and Bill & Janice Ruggles all of Aledo; Bob & Rita Ruggles of Millersburg; Neal & Vicky Ruggles of Taylor Ridge and Keith & Mary Ruggles of Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gloria.
