Funeral Services for Joe E. Garland, 89 of Seaton, will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center Presbyterian Church, Seaton. Joe died on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, Illinois. Joe was born on October 28, 1919 in Abington Township, Mercer County, Illinois to Harv and Helen Garland. He was born and raised on the family farm and devoted his life to farming. Joe is survived by 5 nieces and a nephew: Pamela Cottom, Barbara Garrido, Katherine Brooks, Brenda Bragdon, Richard Cox, Jr and Helen Panneck; 7 great nieces and nephews; a great-great niece and great-great-nephew; his sister, Gladys Cox of Kingsport, TN and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Southwick.
