Funeral services for Kathy Sue Melton, 65 of Seaton, will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Center Presbyterian Church, Seaton or the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Kathy died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family. Kathleen Sue was born on February 24, 1950 in Canton, Illinois to H. Dale & Charlotte (Cox) Sexton. She married Gary Melton on September 28, 1968 in Canton, Illinois. Kathy retired from the United States Postal Service after working at several offices, including Kirkwood and Seaton. She was an active member of the Center Presbyterian Church, helping with Sunday and Bible Schools. Kathy enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. Her children and grandchildren were very precious to her. Kathy’s memory will be cherished by her husband, Gary; Children and spouses: Dwight & Jennifer Melton of Little York; Brenda & Chris Meehan of Seaton and Darren & Rachel Melton of Decatur; 14 Grandchildren; mother, Charlotte Sexton of Havana and siblings and spouses: Steve & Linda Sexton, Lori Jones, Lynn Bertelson and Carol Sexton all of Havana; Mark Sexton of Canton; David & Carolyn Sexton of Cisne, IL and Judy & Carlton Fink of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Sexton; In-laws, Jerry & Virginia Melton and daughter-in-law, Jenny Melton.
