Patricia M. Olson

Funeral services for Patricia M. Olson, 76 of Joy, will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at The Aledo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be left to the Aledo United Methodist Church. Pat died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Patricia Marie was born on September 17, 1939 in Aledo, Illinois to Laverne & Margaret (McKay) Walker. She married Arthur E. Olson on September 28, 1957 in Aledo. Pat began her career in music at an early age, playing the organ since she was 14. She was currently the Aledo United Methodist Church Organist, but also played for many funerals, weddings, school concerts and for her grandchildren. Pat had been legal secretary for Dwight Shoemaker, but retired to care for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cross word puzzles, gardening, canning and sewing. Those left to cherish Pat’s memory include her husband, Art; children and spouses: Kathy & Bill Newswander of Aledo; Dr. Bill Olson of Bettendorf; Scott & Jennifer Olson of Joy; Grandchildren: Kandi & Jake Frieden; Nikki & Matt Lair; Parker, Preston, McKenna & Ashton Olson; Chase, Kenzie and Lexi Olson; Great-Grandchildren: Kaitlyn & Madison Frieden; Sister: Jane Larson of Joy; Brothers: Wilford “Bud” & Gloria Walker and David & Liz Walker, all of Monmouth; and all of her United Methodist Music Family. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; son, Stephen in infancy; granddaughter, Madison Olson and a sister, Ella Mae Yarnell.
