Funeral Services for Dolores “Dee” Swanson, 67 of Joy, will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in the Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Dee Swanson Memorial Fund. Dee died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Mercer County Hospital. Dolores Eileen was born on November 4, 1938 to Wiley & Sadie (Anderson) Williams in Greene Township, Mercer County, Illinois. She married John. F. Swanson on February 23, 1964 in Viola. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1998. Dee had worked for 20 years with Royal Neighbors until 1990 when she started employment Aledo City Hall, where she was currently working. She was a member of the Joy United Methodist Church. Dee enjoyed puzzles, pool, was a Chicago Cubs Fan and had recently joined the NRA. Dee was a devoted and proud mother who enjoyed spending time with her son, Bill. Dee is survived by her son, Bill of Joy; a brother, William Williams of Viola, 2 nephews, Jim Dunbar of Biggsville and John Thompson of Aledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Waunita Thompson.
