Phyllis L. Attig

Funeral Services for Phyllis Attig, 79 of Reynolds, are Tuesday, at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 3 to 7 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church; Mercer County Quilt Guild or Aledo Rehab and Healthcare Center. The family requests casual attire if attending services. Phyllis died Monday, December 19, 2016 at Aledo Rehab and Healthcare. Phyllis was born on February 17, 1937 to Walter & M. Lucille (Thomas) Krueger in Rock Island County. She married George Attig on July 3, 1955 in Illinois City. Together they farmed outside Hamlet. Phyllis was talented in knitting and quilting, enjoyed reading, and was a member of the Potential Bowling League and the Mercer County Quilt Guild. She also was Past President of Home Extension. Those left to cherish Phyllis’ memory include her husband of 61 years, George; 4 children and spouses: Jeff & Angie Attig and Dawn & Dan Lloyd, all of Aledo; Drue & Dan Curry of Milan and John & Jean Attig of Oak Lawn, IL; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; Siblings and spouses: Nellie & Leland Ziegenhorn of Illinois City; Ruth Lee Simpkins of Viola; Carl & Sharon Krueger of Duluth, GA and Roger & Maggie Krueger of Andalusia. Also surviving is a special friend, Sue Vroman of Taylor Ridge. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brittany Attig; and brothers, Glen, Richard “Buck”, and LaVerne Krueger.
