Leonard Calvin Diehl

Leonard C. Diehl, 94 of Aledo, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at his home. Graveside services are Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Leech Cemetery, rural Buffalo Prairie, Illinois. There will be no visitation or fellowship. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Mercer County Relay for Life. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family. Leonard Calvin Diehl was born on September 27, 1922 in Muscatine, Iowa to John Emmanuel & Ella Louise (Bartlett) Diehl. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Leonard married Donna Mae Marie Calsyn on April 26, 1947 In Moline, Illinois. Together they farmed with Leonard’s father for many years in Eliza Township. He then worked at KI Willis in Milan, until his retirement. In 1975 they moved to Aledo. Leonard had his own mowing service with his daughter, Cathy, mowing up until last year. He enjoyed playing the card game 500 and gardening. Leonard is survived by children: Larry (Laura) Diehl and Cathy (Ike) Diehl - Long all of Aledo and a grandson, John (Joanna) Diehl of Phoenix Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Mae on September 1, 2009; an infant daughter, Cathy Ann; brothers, Virgil & Donald and a sister, Blanche Littrell.
