Josephine V. Buban

Josephine V. Buban, 98 of Matherville, died Tuesday, May 20, 2006 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 12:00 Noon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Matherville. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Viola. Visitation is Friday from 11:00 till service time at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or St. John’s Cemetery. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is in charge of arrangements. Josephine was born on August 28, 1907 in Canton, Illinois to Daniel & Antonia (Cebehar) Buban. She received her Nursing degree and was employed with Farmall as the Head Nurse in their medical department. She retired after 25 years of service. Josephine was a dedicated member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was “Aunt Jo” to not only family, but many friends. Josephine is survived and loved by four generations of nieces and nephews. Special friends include Dave and Jan Nelson and their family of Matherville. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters; Zora Stajcar and Bena McCartney and 2 brothers; Charlie and Louis Buban.
