Lois Marie King

Lois M. King, 81 of Aledo, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Mercer County Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lois King Memorial Fund. Lois Marie was born on September 4, 1928 in rural New Boston, Illinois to Leslie & Mary (Gilbert) Sheese. She married Warren King on May 25, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa. Lois enjoyed working outdoors, especially with her husband on the family farm. Her family was very important to her and there was nothing she loved better than cooking a large family dinner for everyone. In earlier years Lois enjoyed dancing, playing cards, camping and was always the life of the party. Those left to cherish Lois’ memory include her husband, Warren; children and their spouses: Judy & Dan “Pete” Swiger of Aledo; Warren, Jr. & Janice King of Alexis; Diann & Rick Kiddoo of North Carolina and Rick and Linda King of Aledo; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters: Floy & Ken Minden of Kansas and Irene Brooks of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Maynard, Charles and Daryl and a sister, Wilma King.
