Arlene Landis, 89, of Galva, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Kewanee Care Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 5th, at 11 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church or the First United Methodist Church of Galva.

 

Arlene May Albertson was born Nov. 9, 1934, to William and Muriel (Snell) Albertson in Aledo. She married Kenneth Landis on Dec. 30, 1956, in Aledo.

 

Arlene graduated from Aledo High School, attended Western Illinois University in Macomb and earned a Bachelor of Art in Education from Marycrest College, Davenport, Iowa, in 1971. She worked as an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years in the Westmer School District.

 

Arlene and Kenny moved from Aledo to Galva in 2006 and was an active member at her churches in Aledo and Galva. She was involved with Beta Sigma Phi Chapter sororities in Aledo and Galva for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and took great pleasure in attending all the extra-curricular events and important moments in the lives of her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Jody (Eddie) Krause of Aubrey, Texas; son, Mike (Kris) of Galva; sister Nancy (Herb) Bell of Naperville; three grandchildren, Brady (Hanna) of Galesburg, Collin and his fiancé Payton Suddeth of Clayton, Mo., and Lauren of Ames, Iowa; great-granddaughter Parker of Galesburg; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma and Richard Bemis and numerous nieces and nephews.
