Curtis Eli Richardson

Curtis Eli Richardson, 73 of Aledo, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo. Military Graveside services will be Monday at 12:00 Noon at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, with Masonic Rites at 10:30 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Curtis Richardson memorial fund or the Mercer County VFW Post #1571. Curtis was born on December 12, 1943 in Mercer County, Illinois. Curtis served his country in the United States Navy for over 24 years. He married Diane Trial on April 13, 2002 in Aledo, Illinois. Curtis was a man of many talents, especially enjoyed woodworking and electrical jobs. He was employed with Deane Frye Construction for many years and with the former Contel Telephone Company from 1968 to 1995. Curtis was a 50 year member of the Aledo Masonic Lodge #252 and Order of the Eastern Star #126. He was also a member of the Mercer County VFW Post #1571 and the American Legion, Post #121. Curtis was a Die-Hard Chicago Cub Fan, and enjoyed seeing them win the World Series. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Nascar and spending time with Sir Walter, his canine companion. Curtis is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter: Tammy Friedel and fiancé, Adam Douglas of Aledo; Granddaughter, C. J. Friedel of Waukesha, WI; siblings: George Richardson of Tennessee and Ardeen Phillips and Judith Richardson, both of Davenport; special friends: Marie Burrill and family and Martha, Kevin & Katie Fuller. He was preceded in death by his mother, Melvina (Jump) Richardson; Son, Tony Richardson and special friends: Darrell Burrill and Kenny Fuller.
