Earl Robbins, 90 of Aledo died Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home, Brookstone of Aledo. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 17th at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial with Military Honors will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Earl Joseph was born on July 3, 1933, in Monmouth, Illinois to Harold & Sarah Jane (Nichols) Robbins. He served his country in the United States Army from May 27, 1953, to May 26, 1955. On September 5, 1953, he married Joyce McCaw at the Aledo United Methodist Church.
Earl farmed in Ohio Grove Township, for most of his life. In earlier years he also worked at the Viola Sale Barn and plowed snow for the State of Illinois. He was trustee of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church and previously a trustee and Elder at Burgess Presbyterian Church and an Ohio Grove Township Trustee. In his spare time, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events, and most recently attended his great-grandson’s t-ball game. Earl could banter with anyone and enjoyed sitting and visiting with family and friends alike. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping with his family.
Those left to cherish Earl’s memory include his wife, Joyce; children and spouses: Robert & Susan Robbins of Branson, MO; Ronald Robbins and Reneé & Steve Lloyd, all of Aledo; 7 grandchildren: Shay Robbins, Nick Robbins, Shantell Matney, Blake Robbins, Joe Elliott, Bree Wakeland, Kevin Lloyd and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a god-son, Rick Boruff and Earl’s “adopted” sons, Mike & Steve Staker, Mike Crawford and Todd Tracy. Earl was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Leonard & Leroy Robbins and June Lowery.
