Edwina Lee Wright

Funeral services for Edwina L. Wright, 82 of Seaton, will be on Tuesday, July 18^th at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton. Visitation is Monday from 4 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Crisis Center or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Edwina died on July 11, 2023, at her home.

Edwina Lee was born on December 24, 1940, in Monmouth, Illinois to Edwin & Vivian (Henry) Douglas. She married William A. Wright on June 11, 1961, in Seaton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2020.

Edwina was the director of the Mercer County Housing Authority until her retirement, upon which she volunteered in many compacities including at the Mercer County Crisis Center. Edwina devoted her life to her family and enjoyed watching her children’s sporting events and doting on her grandchildren. In later years she enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and the Game Show Network, Swedish embroidery and going out and about with her sister, Marilyn. Edwina had just attended her 65^th class reunion of the Aledo High School Class of 1958, where she enjoyed catching up with all her classmates.

Those left to cherish Edwina’s memory include her children: Edina Wright of Seaton; William A. Wright, Jr & Karen Sayre of Mediapolis, Iowa; Doug & Kelly Wright of Shawnee Mission, KS and Mera & Chad McLean of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren: William A. Wright III; Cody, Kellen & Grady Wright; Annie, Carli & Tommy Dryer; and Evangeline, Josiah, Micah, Judah, & Elizabeth McLean; and siblings: Marilyn Hollembaek of Seaton and Buzz & Sandy Douglas of New Boston. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
