Genevieve Marjorie was born on June 9, 1922 to Edward & Mildred (Sackville) Schmidt. She married William F. Parchert on August 24, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2009.

Genevieve was a strong Christian all her life and brought many to faith by being their godmother. Living through the Depression taught her saving, and although “doing without” any luxuries, she was generous with whatever she had. No matter how busy, if anyone came to her door, she always had time to offer a cup of coffee, something good to eat and a heart that listened without judgement. You always left her home with more than you brought. She was an exceptional cook and it was well known that many visitors timed their visits near mealtime.

She leaves behind 4 generations who will remember her love and kindness, chicken and noodles, pies, and countless hours of playing games with them. Although toward the end of her life she forgot us, we will never forget her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons and daughters-in-law: Bill & Marilyn Parchert and Paul & Lucinda Parchert of Illinois City and Ron & Carol Parchert of Taylor Ridge; 9 grandchildren: Sherri Parchert, William Parchert III, James Parchert, Brett Parchert, Beth Vroman, Justin Parchert, Abby Deppert, Mike Bower and Lynn Gilroy;  17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Bieri and sister-in-law, Pauline Schmidt; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings: Virginia Padesky, Kathleen DeSchepper, Eileen Bivens, Eleanor Bigham and Vaughn Schmidt.
