James "Jimmy" M. Fuller

July 29, 1964 — November 3, 2021

James Matthew Fuller, 57, of Aledo, Illinois departed this earthly life November 3, 2021, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. He was born July 29, 1964, in Aledo to Lavern Robert and Patricia Ann (Boyles) Fuller. The eldest of six children, Jimmy grew up on the family farm where he flourished despite his challenges. He attended Warren Achievement in Monmouth in his early years and graduated from Black Hawk Area Special Education Center in Moline at the age of 21. Jimmy participated in the Illinois Special Olympics and won multiple medals, including a gold.

His favorite activity was accompanying his dad on daily rides across the countryside. Together they logged thousands of miles taking in the scenery, looking for wildlife, appreciating the beauty of the Mighty Mississippi, and enjoying each other’s company. They didn’t hesitate to stop for a visit or to make a new friend along the way. You could always count on a smile and a wave from Jimmy as they passed by.

Jim was a passionate sports fan; always cheering for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, Rams, and Blues; and much to his father’s chagrin, cheering for any team playing against the Chicago Cubs or Bears. He enjoyed watching his brothers, sisters, and nephews play for the Aledo Green Dragons. He liked drawing and generously shared his art with his pals. Jim loved family game night and was a formidable slap jack opponent. He especially enjoyed playing with his youngest nephew and great-nephews, affectionately calling them “monkeys.” Jimmy shared his happy nature unconditionally and lived his life completely.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Lavern; siblings: Lisa (Rodney) Dixon; Daniel Fuller; Michael (Ashlie) Fuller all of Aledo, and Michelle Fuller of Champaign, IL; three nephews: Christopher Dixon, Alex (Kristina) Dixon, and Patrick Fuller all of Aledo; three great-nephews: Kayden, Connor, and Milo Dixon all of Aledo; aunts: Linda (Bruce) Reynolds of Normal, IL, Martha Fuller of Aledo, Mary Martel of Silvis, IL, and Frances (Daniel) Curran of Bettendorf, IA. Jimmy also leaves behind a host of cousins.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; sister and brother-in-law: Patricia “Trish” and DelMichael “Del” Roseboom; grandparents: Robert and Nora (Gillespie) Fuller; and Francis and Teresa (O’Connor) Boyles; and uncles: Kenneth Fuller and Augustine Martel.

A private family viewing will be held at Speer Funeral Home in Aledo where a rosary will be recited. A private mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in rural Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Fuller Family for a memorial to be established later. Condolences may be left at speerfuneralhome.com.
