James W Rettig

James W. Rettig, 78 of Aledo, died Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his home. Memorial services will be Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, with fellowship to follow.  Private family burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge, Illinois. Jim was born on September 4, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa to Emery & Romaine (Blackstone) Rettig. He retired in 1997 after 31 years with John Deere at the Moline Plow and Planter Division and Milan Parts Distribution Center. After John Deere, he worked in the Maintenance Department at Rockridge High School. He loved following his grandchildren’s activities, and never missed a ball game. Jim enjoyed his visits and coffee time with friends.  

Jim is survived by his children, Tracy & Philip Bayne of Taylor Ridge and Michael Rettig & fiancé, Laurie of Blue Grass; Grandchildren: Kayla & Bailey Noble; Kyle & Paige Rettig, Mitchell & Leah Bayne and Madison Bayne and great-grandchildren: Makenna, Camden, Bennett and Macey Noble and Josie Rettig. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wilford and John Rettig.
