Janice "Jan" Ann Brandt

Janice “Jan” Ann Brandt, 87 of Viola, died peacefully on August 31, 2026, at Mercer Manor Aledo. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 3 at 10:00 AM at Viola Cemetery, with Rev. David Schultz officiating. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Animal Shelter or Jan’s family. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.

Janice Ann Monts was born on January 7, 1939, in Monmouth, Illinois to Herschel & Ruth (Manning) Monts. She was a very active person, working for Washington National Insurance and an adjustor, Managing Viola All Stop, working at the Merco Grain in Aledo before retiring from Morrison’s Market. In her spare time, she enjoyed her time outside with her horses, tending her flowers and taking care of her dogs, especially Puppy. Jan was a voracious reader, reading anything she could get her hands on.

Jan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Herk & Jessica Brandt. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dick Monts.
