Joseph P. Schrock, 95 of Aledo, died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Graveside services will be Thursday, May 13th at 1:00 PM at Peniel Cemetery, Joy. Military Honors will be given by the Eliza and Aledo American Legions. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, where Masonic rites will be given at 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the Eliza American Legion or the New Boston Mason Lodge, AF & AM #59. Condolences may be left at speerfuneralhome.com.
Joseph Paul was born on April 1, 1926 in Muscatine, County on the family farm to Joseph L. & Carolyn “Carrie” Yoder Schrock. He served his country in the United States Navy. Joe married Eunice Jean McGlaughlin on January 31, 1948. She preceded him in death in 1978. On May 24, 1980 he married Marjorie Crose in Aledo, Illinois. She preceded him in death in 2017.
When Joe came home from the military he farmed with family. He also worked for a local phone company prior to working for Alcoa for 15 years, all while commercial fishing with his best friend, Floyd Russell. After Alcoa, he was a partner in Schrock & Hodgson Construction, later joining the union as a carpenter. Joe was a 50-year member of the New Boston Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Eliza American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and camping over the years with his family.
Joe is survived by his children and spouses: Joseph Earl “Joedy” & Lynda Schrock of Woodstock, IL; Judy Dillie of Joy; Steve & Cindy Schrock of Rock Island; Dan & Linda Schrock of Aledo; Jack & Nancy Schrock of Joy; Ruth Schrock of Aledo; Christine Junis of Joy and Dave & Suzan Schrock of Milan; Stepchildren: Martin & Jo Bloomfield of New Windsor and John Bloomfield of Keokuk; 137 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; Siblings: Ernest Schrock of Eliza and Ed & Mary Schrock of Seaton. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jean; second wife, Marjorie; foster son, Jack Stirn; 6 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Schrock and sisters, Marge Genung, Helen Herman and Minnie Miller.
