Kathryn "Kitte" M. Lower

Kathryn Mary “Kitte” Tolliver Lower died on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Mercer Manor, Aledo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation is Thursday from 9 to 10:45 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the BJ Luxmore Scholarship Fund. 

Kitte was born on October 31, 1928, in Minot, North Dakota to Glen & Lydia (Rosenburg) Tolliver. She married Lloyd James “Bud” Lower on May 3, 1947, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2024. 

Kitte gave her whole life to her family as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a way about herself that made you feel like you were the most special, most interesting person when you were talking to her. She genuinely cared about you and wanted to know how you were doing, what was going on in your life and she wanted to celebrate those things with you, whether you were family or friend. She was the sweetest, kindest, bravest, most selfless and most genuine soul, that made her so easy to love. Her smile, laughter and energy lit up any room she was in. She was the sunshine and energy of the Lower family! 

Kitte’s memory will be cherished by her children and spouses: Vicki & Bill Bluedorn of Milan; Judy Lower; Joe & Laurie Lower, Marlene Lower, Edward & Denise Lower all of Aledo; Susan & Ed Madison of Illinois City and Matthew & Bev Lower of Aledo; Grandchildren: Nikki Taylor, Patrick M. Lower, Andrew Lower, Shannon Brown, Jaimie Johnston, Tricia Price, LeAnn Quillin, Zach Lower, Jacob Lower, Zane Lower, Lucas Lower, Kaylee Lower, Kristin Relander, Kayde Gerber, Brad Bieri, Cole Peterson, and Emily, Ellie & Mattie Lower; and 37 great-grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; sons, Patrick and Thomas; and several brothers and sisters.
