Kenneth H. Morby, 75 of Aledo, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Memorial services will be Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation from 1 to 3 PM, prior to services. Private family burial will be in Belmont Cemetery, Bald Bluff Township. Memorials may be made to Mercer County Relay for Life or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Kenneth was born on October 7, 1946, in Peoria, Illinois to Horace & Martha (Zessin) Morby. He graduated from Abingdon High School and received his Agriculture Economic degree from Western Illinois University. Ken and Carole L. Wilson were united in marriage on September 2, 1967 in Abingdon, Illinois.
Ken was a hog buyer for Oscar Mayer and United Producers, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed working around the house and he loved sports, especially the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini. He cherished his grandchildren and faithfully followed their school activities. Ken was a past member of Farm Bureau, the Illinois Pork Producers, and the Golden Lions Club.
Those left to cherish Ken’s memory include his wife, Carole; children and spouses: Keith & Sara Morby and Kyle & Tom Lloyd, all of Aledo; 4 grandchildren: Adam & Matt Lloyd and Lauren & Brad Morby; and a sister: Ruth Ann Link of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Strange and a special dog, Maci.
