Margaret "Marge" Lloyd

Margaret “Marge” Lloyd, 82 of Aledo, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at her home. Memorial services will be Thursday, September 21^st at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercer Foundation for Health or the Aledo United Methodist Church.

Margaret Dorothy was born on December 7, 1940, in Moline, Illinois to Edward J. & Sarah E. (Culley) Freebern. She was a 1958 graduate of United Township High School.  Marge was a 1961 graduate of the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing, where she began her Nursing Career. Marge retired from the Mercer County Hospital in 1998.

Marge married Harold W. Lloyd on September 7, 1962, in Silvis, Illinois. From this union, 5 children were born. Harold preceded her in death on October 20, 2004.

In her spare time, Marge enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with drawing, painting and quilting. Family members were gifted her beautiful pencil sketches, Christmas stockings and quilts. Marge’s kids, family and neighbors grew up enjoying her fabulous cooking.

Marge dedicated her life to healthcare. Nursing wasn’t her only gift, she also helped teach EMT classes and mentored other nurses and staff at the hospital. Marge spent most of her nursing career in the ER Department, but retired from home healthcare, which she found to be very fulfilling.

Marge is survived by her children and spouses: Dave & Kim Lloyd of Reynolds; Brian (Barney) & Tiffanee Lloyd; Steve & Reneé Lloyd all of Aledo; Sara & Blair Blaser and Andrew Lloyd & Angie Scott all of Reynolds; 12 grandchildren: Kevin Lloyd, Kassie & Daulton Hainline, Briley & Mason Fullerton, Joe & Allie Elliott, Brody & Gabby Lloyd, Cody Blaser & Kynlee Dub, Bree & Dallas Wakeland, Bailey Blaser, Allie Lloyd, Essie Lloyd, Gracie Lloyd and Abby Blaser; Great-Grandchildren: Remi, Vaughn, Nash, Gette, Briggs, Carter, Jasper, and Ruby; Siblings: Edward L. & Nancy Freebern of Bettendorf and Jane & Mike Bare of Erie. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
