Marilyn M. Hollembaek, 94 of Seaton, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Brookstone of Aledo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 5:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Mercer County VFW Auxiliary or St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Marilyn Mae was born on February 28, 1930, in Seaton, Illinois to Edwin & Vivian (Henry) Douglas. She graduated from Seaton High School in 1948. Marilyn and Don Hollembaek were married on December 28, 1949, in Aledo, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2007.

Marilyn was office manager for 43 years for both Dr. Benson and Dr. Wienmeister, prior to retirement in 1995. She ran every aspect of the office and even assisted on many surgeries and procedures. Marilyn also helped Don on their farm north of Little York where they raised grain and cattle. She was a member of the VFW Post #1571 Auxiliary, the Mercer County Farm Bureau and St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

In their spare time, Marilyn and Don would go to the Lake of the Ozarks, where they enjoyed boating with friends. She played league golf at Oak View Country Club and Hawthorn Ridge; bowled in several leagues and played softball in her earlier years. Marilyn especially enjoyed her daily trips to Keithsburg for donuts with her best friend and sister, Edwina. Marilyn loved all animals, especially her current feline companion, Twitter.

Marilyn is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Guy “Buzz” & Sandra Douglas of New Boston; brother-in-law, Bob Hollembaek of Moline and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Edwina Wright. Also surviving is her feline companion, Twitter.
